What is Alpha?
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over ten weeks. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone is welcome. Most sessions start with food, because it’s a great way to connect and get to know everyone there.

What does each session look like?
The main sessions will run on Monday evenings, from 7:30pm-9:30pm, in the Parish Rooms at St Michael's (RG42 6EE). Each session includes a video talk, with pauses for group discussions. There will also be a hot meal served at the start of each evening.
The Saturday Away Day is a longer session (approx 9am-4pm), and also includes a provided meal at lunchtime.
The Alpha sessions are designed to engage and inspire conversation, to explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity. Probably the most important part of Alpha is the post-talk discussion: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There's no obligation to say anything and there's nothing you can't say (seriously). It's an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.
