The Warfield Churches
exist to love Christ and to share his love through worship, witness and works.
Our hope is to build a community where everyone can experience God’s love. As a
result of this the churches intentionally reach out to different groups of
people in different ways, as
The following are values agreed by Warfield P.C.C, interpreted in
conjunction with the Diocesan ‘Living Faith’ vision statement’.
Making Disciples
We believe that Biblical
teaching anointed by the Holy Spirit is the catalyst for individual and
corporate transformation. (Romans 12:7; 2
Timothy 3:16-17; James 1:23-25)
We believe that full devotion
to Christhis Body and serving his cause is normal for
every believer. This includes the concept of stewardship of time, money and
talents, servant-hood, and discipleship. (1
Kings 11:4; Philippians 2:1-11; 2 Corinthians 8:7)
We believe that Christ's
followers should demonstrate authenticity and yearn for continuous growth. This
involves a total life change (Ephesians 4:25-32; Hebrews 12:1; Philippians 1:6)
openness to interdependent living (Romans 12:5) and emphasis upon prayer. (Luke 11:1ff; Ephesians
6:18; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; James 5:13; Jude 20)
Creating Vibrant Christian Communities
We believe that loving
relationships should permeate every aspect of Church life. This includes the
principle of servant-hood and commitment to relationship building. (1 Corinthians 13; 1. John 4: 7-21; Nehemiah 3; Luke 10:1; John
13:34-35)
We believe that
life-change happens best in small groups by the power of the Holy Spirit. This
is the reason for our commitment to being churches of small groups to
facilitate fellowship, teaching and ministry. (Luke 6:12-13; Acts 2:44-47; Galatians 5:13-26; Exodus 18:13ff)
We believe that the
Church should be culturally relevant while remaining doctrinally pure. This involves mission strategies that connect
with the surrounding cultures (1 Corinthians 9:19-23) whilst proclaiming the
apostolic truth. (1. Timothy 1:3-11;
Titus 2:1-15)
Making a Difference in the World
We believe that lost
people, young and old, matter to God, and therefore, ought to matter to the
Church. This is the reason for our
commitment to youth work
(Ephesians 6:4; Deuteronomy 4:8-14) and to relational evangelism
as well as organized evangelistic events. (Luke
5:30-32; Luke 15; Matthew 18:14)
We believe that the
Church should operate as a unified worshipping community of servants using
their spiritual gifts. This involves
belonging to the Body of Christ with priority being given to corporate
spiritual worship and prayer. (1
Corinthians 12 & 14; Romans 12; Ephesians 4; Acts 2:42-47)
We believe that the
Church should be engaged in social action, and that to act justly and love
mercy is a central call for all Christians. (Micah
6:8)
Shaping confident and collaborative Leadership
We believe that
excellence in all we do honours God and inspires people. This means putting
Christ’s Body and cause before our own. (Colossians
3:17; Malachi
1:6-14; Proverbs 27:17)
We believe that churches
should be led by people with leadership gifts, and we strive to identify and
develop those in the local church that demonstrate God’s anointing to serve in
this way. This is the reason for our commitment to shared leadership,
continuous training and the evaluation of gifts and abilities. (Nehemiah
1 & 2; Romans 12:8; Acts 6:2-5; Titus 1:5)
Sustaining the Sacred Centre
We believe in the power
of prayer and the importance of reliance on God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
We believe that giving of
ourselves to God in worship should be at the heart of all we do.
